english breakfast tea

. stupid virus bullshit in this computer just erased my fucking post. fuck.

a quick recap of my beautiful message:

i love this, it it by Linn Olofsdotter. I found it on freshly blended. this style of art is one of my favorites, by far. so intriguing. linn's site is also incredible- her art is so interesting and fun!

oh. juxtapoz is always a good read. i love to look at the reader art the most... it is very inspiring and motivating i think. these people are you and me. reading juxtapoz online. sitting at home thinking up creative and strange ideas all day. i particularly like the variety in skill levels, experience, age, etc.

Rodrigo Damien's art was outstanding i think.

cash rules everything around me

today i grew some figurative balls and finally spent some money on things i've needed to complete ongoing projects. !!

this sugino crankset was the most exciting purchase! it's going on my fuji... now i need a 2nd back wheel for my debernardi, and then the fuji can be set up with a lighter ratio for some fun. need to get these bikes powdercoated soon.

i also got some buttons like these for sewing projects.

at the craft store, i found everything to do the marble magnet project from last post.

annnd i got some nice vinyl fabrics (first, second) to make bar protectors with for my bicycle, and others' bicycles. maybe i will make a bunch and sell them. i'm putting pearlsnap closures on mine.

artsy

some interesting things i've seen today.

marble magnets on not martha. this is such an easy thing to do, and they look so good.

i love old phones.

lucas just woke up! that's all for now.

brains.

unbelievable.. i just read a health article in the NYtimes online discussing a "medical mystery in minnesota." it describes, very nonchalantly, about how union workers in a hormel pig butchering factory get nerve damage from being splattered with vaporized pig brains. every day. the story is enlightening and interesting, despite how gross it all sounds, but what i found most interesting is how calm and matter-of-fact the writer was throughout the article. gross.

on a slightly less gross, but much scarier note, read this cnn.com article. FBI wants palm prints, eye scans, tattoo mapping.

wow, the news today was really uplifting.

meanwhile, i'm still nervous for obama. realistically, we just need the republican dickheads out. but ideally, OBAMA is the man, and he's running, and he's capable...so... i'll still be super frustrated if for some dumb reason he doesn't win. hillary...good politician. but she's a bitch, and has too many enemies. don't feel like ranting about this anymore today, i'm too anxious.

tomorrow is super tuesday.

getting excited. next year. this year!

burningman. coming soon. again. our 2nd year will be much more than the first... it's like drugs.. sometimes better after you know how to mentally prepare and react.

the double rainbow last year was incredible. i was on top of our borrowed car. i had to borrow this picture off flickr because it was so incredible... check out the amazing burningman shots. so many photographers and so many opportunities! and then us:

nice shot, lu. thanks.

1st day back

i've been sick for a week... today i'll go back to work like the rest of the world.

being a prisoner of my home, i reorganized everything. EVERYTHING. each closet, each corner, even the stove! and, i did way too much diddling online. maybe i should put more interesting things on this blog. other people somehow find the time to do that, so i will consider it.

i was reading through the Mike Giant site, and i liked his bio. it's interesting, simple, and leaves you dying to know more about him and his adventures in art, travel, and experience. how can i become so talented? i want to know the secret:

Birth. Upstate New York. Drawing. New Mexico.
BMX bikes. Heavy Metal. Skateboarding. Punk
rock. Hip-hop. Thailand. College. Dishwasher.

Raves. Lorelei. First tattoo. San Francisco.
Dharma. Think Skateboards. Angi. London.
Adult bookstore. Computer animation.

Press. Everlasting. Track bikes. Brooke and Leia.
Tokyo. Tattoo 13. Plum Village. Albuquerque.

minister. Megan. 35. Right here. Right now.

hm.

it just reminds me how much time i have ahead of me, and how much one CAN be doing, instead of doing nothing. i'm beginning to realize that being a "functioning member of society" is a much more confusing and misused phrase than people tend to use it as. you can only do so much to promote the betterment of mankind.. but you shouldn't do detrimental things. it's a waste of everyone's time. personal happiness that is inclusive of others seems to be the most motivating lifestyle right now.

kitten

you had no business being there, that road, that time of night. what were you thinking?

you ran for your LIFE, but you were running quickly away from it. suddenly. you found the destination.. you just hadn't really thought about the consequences, and how much it would hurt.

you were flopping like a fish. it was awful. at least you maintained your dignity in physical form... you were...intact.

we pulled you from the shame of second hand death or whatever else could have come. we tried to find help, but you were finally calm. maybe paralyzed, in fear, in shock, broken.

your little black face and tiny white mouth in my hands, you breathed in as you had been, very tired, and the biggest breath out that i have ever witnessed, and you relaxed.

so we brought you home. and now you're with us.
